Meet the Team

Melanie Collins, BSW, RSW
Clinical Social Worker

Melanie has recently joined the Everbloom team as a clinical social worker! At Everbloom, Melanie offers counselling services to children and parents seeking support with grief and loss, trauma, domestic & intimate partner violence, religious trauma, and those looking for support managing neuro-developmental conditions.
Melanie has a deep commitment to supporting children, youth, and families, that began many years ago. Before becoming a clinical social worker, Melanie worked with young children as an Early Childhood Educator and Afterschool Educator. She has worked one-on-one with children with additional needs, too. Melanie’s dedication to social health doesn’t stop there - she has volunteered at UNB’s Women’s Center and at a Warming Shelter for unhoused visitors. Since then, Melanie has been dedicated to supporting children, youth and families facing adversity.

She then pursued her bachelor’s degree in social work, completing practicums with Greater Fredericton Social Innovation and the Department Social Development, Child & Youth Well-Being Services. Melanie was drawn to social work because of its commitment to social justice and its recognition that our experiences are shaped not only by individual circumstances, but also by the systems and environments around us. Her passion for this work is rooted in both professional experience and personal understanding of the importance of supporting people through life’s challenges.
She has completed additional training related to inclusion, domestic & intimate partner violence, and bereavement support, and is committed to ongoing learning and professional development. She plans to pursue specialization in approaches that honour each person's unique story and experiences, including play therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), narrative therapy, somatic approaches, and nature-based practices.
Melanie's practice is informed by person-centred, strengths-based, anti-oppressive, and systems-oriented perspectives. Additionally, her lived experiences gave her deep insight into how the structuring of our society creates the context where children and other vulnerable populations experience trauma and marginalization. Melanie believes that healing happens through connection, safety, and authentic relationships. She feels privileged to walk alongside children, youth, and families as they navigate challenges, discover their strengths, and create meaningful change in their lives.
